WAITING FOR HER TAXI

Her taxi pulled up just after I sneaked this photo.

Thanks for indulging me in my self-imposed Monochome Month of March meme.

NIGHT LIFE

Like any other large city, Belgrade has its  night life, more accentuated in some sections of town than others. I was waiting for my friend to show up and slyly snapping from a park pench. This girl's garter attracted me, but I guess that's what she was looking for.

(Jedno Mesto means 'one/a certain place', and is usually used when someone has to leave the table to go to the bathroom.)

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.

ELDER PUP

Elder Pup is the euphemism I give to older dogs. Somehow nicer than 'old dog'.  This little fellow was 15 years old.

ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE YEARS OLD

This house on a side street near me needs a bit of facade work. It has a lovely garden that is rented out for an equally lovely outdoor cafe when the weather is warmer. I am not sure if anyone lives year-round in it.

Above the side door (not visible here) there is a date stone that reads 1901, making the house one hundred and twenty-three years old.

LOST IN THOUGHT

This sweet lady sat down next to Madhu and me in the park the other evening. We chatted a bit and then she smiled sweetly and retreated into her own thoughts.

CHARLIE IN BELGRADE

I met a Charlie Chaplin wannabe last evening. This fellow makes a living by doing kids' birthday parties.

WHERE ARE MY CIGARETTES?

"Where ARE my cigarettes?" she's probably wondering. I don't smoke, but whatever I hunt in my purse always seems to be at the very bottom.  I'm still plugging along with my self-imposed Monochrome Month of March Meme.

TROJAN HORSE....IN MINIATURE

I am not sure of the reason for this spiky structure with a Trojan horse. No sign, no nuttin'

"CARRY ME, MAMA"

I still have a vague recollection of saying 'Carry me' to my mother. Do you remember?

A MAN AND HIS DOG

Waiting for the walking green. I thought these two looked a bit alike.

OUTSIDE THE BAKERY

Half-way through the month of my Monochrome Month of March meme. Here's a bakery employee enjoying a little puff and a sip.

TWO WOMEN

Yes, it seems the woman on the right saw me and suspected I snapped a photo. But I was very nonchalant, and she didn't question me. Lap shot thanks to adjustable screen.

I HAVE FORGOTTEN....

In keeping with my self-imposed Monochrome Month of March meme, here is a photo of a statue of....oh....I have forgotten who.  Shame on me.

NOT HER DOG

I have an absolutely wonderful, generous, self-effacing, soon-to-be 92 years old friend.  A former colleague to top it off. She lives in a divided  house on the ground floor with a big garden shared with the family upstairs.  This is THEIR dog, who has let herself be adopted by my friend, for her own family neglects her..  They leave her out in the cold, no decent shelter, and so on. She's just over a year and a half old.

My friend let her in once to sleep in her hallway. Chloe has now moved on to the rest of the house and has found her spot on my friend's 'good' couch.

No one minds, not even me.

GEOMETRIC ABSTRACT

How many shapes can you see in this café table and bench photo?

NIGHT FLOWERS

Not just night flowers of course; they are undoubtedly colorful from the inside, but to me they're still attractive in black and white.

PAPERWHITE NARCISSUS

Continuing my self-imposed Monochrome Month of March Meme. These lovely paper white narcissus brighten my day. It's been raining and gloomy.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Today, March 8th, is International Women's Day, though for me, every day is Women's Day.

Looks like the ladies  haven't hit this bar yet, but it is now only 8:23 a.m. as I type.

SUGAR BOWL IN MY FAVORITE CAFE

Continuing with my self-imposed Monochrome Month of March meme, here is a sugar bowl in my favorite cafe. Actually, I should revise that to say it is my favorite cafe in the morning hours when I usually go. I took this photo around 5 p.m.  Maajor traffic, stinky and noisy, on the street, so I imagine that is why no one else was sitting there.

But I got a good photo...

OFFICE CHAIR

Continuing with my own Monochrome Month of March meme, this is not your typical office chair.  However, it is used every single weekday, Saturdays, and sometimes Sundays by a woman selling cheap clothing at her stand on an outdoor market. Doesn't look comfortable at all, and she needs a real cushion.

NIGHT KITTY

I am not a cat lover, although I have known some cats that I like. In general though, for me they're too quiet and sneak up on me.  This one came out of the doorway and gave me the evil eye....or so it seemed.

This photo is in keeping with my Monochrome Month of March meme.

NIGHT TEXTER THROUGH WINDOW

Some may not agree, but I've always maintained that if you don't draw your curtains, I can take your photo. And I did, in this case catching a woman oblivious to my presence outside. In reality, I find most texters when outside are oblivious to presences outside as well.

NOBODY'S HUNGRY

A 'Smash Burger' employee taking a break. No customers, at least for a short while.

BLONDE IN A DARK ALLEY

March already. Somewhere along the line, in an alliterative mode, I decided to do a "Monochrome Month of March" series, meaning that (with the exception of Theme Day yesterday), I am going to try to (notice the 'try to') post a monocrhome photo every day this month.  This means that photos will either be black and white or as otherwise defined "a photography or picture developed or executed in black and white OR in varying tones  of only one color."

Let's see what 'develops'.

THEME DAY MARCH 2024--REFLECTIONS IN A WINDOW

Today is March 1st and the theme for March is 'Reflections in a window'. Here some street players can be seen playing their instruments in front of an H&M window, with those letters reflected from the black wall to the display window behind them.

See other reflections on MARCH 2024 THEME DAY.
