Weekend Reflection--The Japanese Garden

I'd never visited Seattle's Japanese Garden before, located in the Madison district of the city.  Well-worth the visit and it must be gorgeous in the spring.  Lots of turtles and koi, too.

ABC Wednesday "X" is for "xx chromosome"

"XX" chromosomes is what females have.  Do they have anything to do with a flair for drama?  This is Nora, who was fully enjoying herself at Cannon Beach, Oregon, where she participated in a family reunion.

At the bus stop

These guys were having a good time when I snapped their photo from across the street.

Bratwurst!

Sometimes I want a hot dog or something of that sort.  So this is the Bratwurst that Isaac of Dante's Inferno served me.  I asked for the works, minus mayo, but with jalapeno peppers and all.  Yum.

SUNDAY BRIDGES--The bridge in Astoria, Oregon

A bit of work being done on this graceful bridge in Astoria, Washington.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY--Cannon Beach, Oregon

Went to Cannon Beach, Oregon, for my son-in-law's family reunion.  We spent three days, two of which were warm!  The other one wasn't....

Can you get much redder?

I can't help myself when I see red poppies....they don't do well in a vase, so I take them home in my camera.

Coming back from Gig Harbor toward Seattle over the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge...this tower is from the old bridge, still in use going the other way. Mount Rainier!

Silky....

Yesterday we had colorful bamboo, today colorful scarves, silk at that, that I saw (but didn't buy!) at Seattle's Pike Place Market.

ABC Wednesday "V" is for "vertically varigated"

It's hard to believe these are bamboo stalks. I have no idea why they're pink.  These stood in the midst of other green bamboo stalks in a neighbor's yard here in Seattle. I should look this up...have these stalks fallen victim to some kind of blight? Off to Google!

See other V's on ABC WEDNESDAY.

Plucked too short

Had lunch at my in-laws' in Bellevue the other day.  One of their granddaughters loves to pick flowers from their garden, but she needs practice in getting the stems...  These were so pretty that I had to immortalize their short life.

The Kilt Runner

I see a lot of guys wearing kilts here in Seattle.  They don't see me taking their photo, though.

The Magnolia Bridge

Another not-so-exciting bridge photo, but it's all I've got right now.  This is the Magnolia Bridge;  Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood on the far side.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--I just turned around....

I needed a photo for James' WEEKEND REFLECTION and didn't know where to find one until I finished the dishes, turned around, and there it was on the counter.

SKYWATCH--Gas Works Park, Seattle

Gas Works Park  is  one of the best places in Seattle to get a view of some of the city's skyline. Of course, you can get a view of the old gas works, too...and the sun behind.

Snazzy

Definitely head-turning, snazzy duds, and it's great to see older some older people have a sense of fashion! Live it up.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"U" is for "unique"

WEll, maybe not  unique   since there may be more Pink Pentaxes, but I was immediately drawn to this very feminine camera---it belongs to this fellow's girlfriend, who was shy to pose.

See other U's at  ABC WEDNESDAY.

...by any other name....

Rickhaw?  Tuk-tuk?  What do you call these?  This is a snazzy new way to get around Seattle, though I haven't seen many of them.

Harley, Harley, Harley....

I get a kick out of these chaps...is that what they're called?  Not sure.  I think motorcycling would be fun..
If you'd like a good laugh, check out this video of a fellow doing motorcycle imitations....

SUNDAY BRIDGES--far from home

Seattle is home to many cultures, so perhaps this man feels and is more at home here than in his native land.  He's enjoying a Coke, so.....

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--the baby cup and spoon

This silver baby cup and spoon belonged both to my mother and then to me.  Underneath when I return to Belgrade will be engraved little Mila's name and year born.  You can see me in the spoon....

THEME DAY--Tranquility

A sleeping baby, nothing more tranquil than that, even in the 'arms' of a giant teddy.  If you ever wondered who buys these giant plush toys, now you know.

In Seattle through mid-July, helping daughter with baby Luka, above.
