I love lemon

Today the weather, for the most part, was good. Sunny skies!  I treated myself to this sunny lemon tart at the Pike Place Market.

Sorry I've missed a few posts....been going around with my daughter and son, and not much an eye out for photos...but hope to get back on track.

This Grinch-type fellow adorns a wall in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

WEEKEND REFLECTION - In the eye of the beholder....

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....and here I am in my little grandson's eye.  (wink)

Seattle's Seven Hills

Seattle boasts seven hills. This photo of a mosaic column was taken on Queen Anne Hill.

I always think of Rome when I hear 'seven hills,' but it appears that there are quite a few cities that claim to be built on seven hills. Check out this link.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"O" is for "objets d'art"

When I'm in Seattle, one of my favorite stores to browse through (and yes, sometimes buy something) is World Market. I used to have a collection of teapots in unusual shapes and once-upon-a-time would have bought one of these.  I've downsized and kept only a few of my collection.

I've been to the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel Tower, and the elephant one here reminds me of Atlantic City's Lucy the Elephant  that my grandfather and I visited several times when I was little.

Lovely OBJETS D'ART, but these remained unpurchased by me.

See other O's on ABC WEDNESDAY.

Everyone's got one

Everyone's got one. Not a Smart Car, but an IQ.

Is this 'smart' car's IQ high or low?

A long spring

It's darn cold.  I left Belgrade, where it was just getting nice and warm, and now I'm practically back in woolies again.

A classic view of Seattle from Alki Beach.

Green and wet

Jet-lagged, but in the Emerald City and it's raining.  This photo shows green and raindrops!

Off again visiting,,,,

Barely touched down on Serbian soil after India and am now off to visit my daughter and family in Seattle for about two months.

Leaving little Mila  in Belgrade for a while to cuddle with her cousin Luka in Seattle.

Peanut, peanut....

I envied this fellow. I'm not good at sneaking up on or luring squirrels, but he was. They seem to think my camera is some sort of firearm and run away I sneaked the bottom shot with my long lens.

I'll be posting from Seattle on Friday for about two months. Visiting daughter and family!

ABC WEDNESDAY - 'N' is for 'neighbors'

My laundry fetish at work again.  There's a big difference in the color of these two neighbors' laundry!

See other N's on ABC WEDNESDAY.

It's been warm the past few days, but this lady isn't quite ready to give up cold weather...except for the bright pink color of her coat.

Sunday, April 14, 2013

It's become common now to say that a pregnant woman has a baby bump, and for some reason, I don't like that expression.  This bridge, leading into the fortress on Kalemegdan Park, has a bridge bump, due to, I imagine, excessive water absorption.  Not surprising with all the rain we've had....

WEEKEND REFLECTION--Atlas upside-down

Still puddles in Belgrade...I've shown you these Atlases before right-side up on this post.

SKYWATCH...still not blue...

I'm impatient, it is true. This has been a long spring so far....but I see tiny leaves across the river in this photo....

See other skies, I hope more beautiful, on SKYWATCH.

Not flowers, but colorful.

Everyone else seems to be posting beautiful spring flowers, but they're not at all up in abundance here, so I'm posting these colorful chairs....they're waiting to be placed at tables outdoors...when weather permits.

Crocheted and fur

Here you still see women wearing fur. This coat appears very old, and its wearer isn't so young. I imagine she may have crocheted the shawl she's wearing over the coat.  Times are hard....she rummaged through the dumpster just out of my photo near the pigeons.

Spring heat

These are two towers from the heating plant in New Belgrade...a few blossoms on the tree....but when will the real warmth come?

In the fog....

Weekend Reflection--Puddle

When oh when will there be spring?  You can see we've had rain....April showers that I hope will bring May flowers.

A bit of a shock....

Right after I got back from India I went to buy some chicken.  That day in the butcher shop were hanging two slaughtered pigs....a bit of a shock to me after India, where I hadn't even seen a slaughtered chicken, though chicken is eaten....but not pork.  Too much meat for me all at once!

ABC WEDNESDAY--"L" is for "locks"

One more India photo....still need to replenish my Belgrade stock.

I'm sorry I didn't buy one of these fancy locks or one of the door knockers.

Next time.....

Lost and posing

There's a wall not far from me that I noticed before I left for India because it had a couple of broken toys sitting on a little shelf on it.  Now that I've returned, the collection has grown....here's what it looks like now, and a close-up.  I'll have to find something to add....

THEME DAY-pedestrians crossing "Searching for Mr.(s?) Chandon?

Ah....if only the weather were good enough today (it's snowing lightly....) for someone to wear this shirt like late last fall....

There's a fine wines store just ahead of this fellow....will he buy some champagne?

See other pedestrians at THEME DAY.

I love to go out for breakfast. Today I went with two friends to an old- school Serbian restaurant.  It serves classic dishes like moussaka...
