In Seattle on a bus

You know me. I am always ready to sneak a shot....and I did in the bus back to Queen Anne Hill from downtown Seattle.

I thought the expressions of these two fellow passengers were so sweet.

SKYWATCH--looking westward

The statue of The Victor, along with another photographer who was waiting for a good shot, stand looking westward in Kalemegdan Park.

I am already westward==in Seattle until spring, and so soon I'll be posting from here.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"W" is for "watercolor"

It's not a watercolor, but looks like one. Took this from the quay through a ship's window, along the Sava River.

Refugees

Refugees, most likely from Syria, have been welcomed in transit in Belgrade. Now that it's colder, it appears that they've received warm blankets, too.

Every little bit....

I see this lady in various parts of town, and she seems so in love with her dog, like many less fortunate people do.  I always give her something, and when she's close to my pet shop, I buy the dog food.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS: LIGHTS ARE UP!

Actually, the holiday lights have been up here for quite some time.....nearly as early as in the US.

But anyway, most of them are pretty, so we can enjoy them longer.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"V" is for "vehicle'

A vehicle can be defined as "a thing used for transporting people or goods, especially on land, such as a car, lorry, or cart," so there you go.

These garbage dumpsters are vehicles!

Bon voyage!

This young couple are headed somewhere.....perhaps too early to leave for the end-of-the-year holidays, but I still wish them 'Bon voyage.'

MONDAY MURALS--Pippi in Belgrade

I have no idea why Pippi Longstocking is smiling from this lively wall in Belgrade's up-and-coming hotspot, Savamala.

But she definitely caught my eye.

THEME DAY--Transitions...what lies ahead

A difficult theme, or else I found it so because I had not much time to think about it.  Transition is change; some predictable, some not.

The predictable transitions are perhaps easier to cope with, if only because we have time to get used to them.  Those transitions we cannot foresee, such as suddenly being faced with a life-threatening illness, are the most challenging.

A bit like driving down life's highway.  On a clear day you can perceive sooner what lies around the bend.  I tend to think, however, that life is more like driving through the fog:  you can't always tell what lies ahead.

See more variations on this theme at THEME DAY.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"U" is for "utensils'

Utensils and maybe 'unexpected,' too.  Had a cup of coffee with a friend and spotted these utensils, napkins, and oil and vinegar on my way out.

Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night....

"Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night...."   So goes the US Post Office's motto that their couriers will not be deterred by the elements.

The same could be said for some stalwart chess players in Kalemegdan Park.

Snapped this photo of chessmen all set up by a fellow who went off to find something dry to sit on.

Church tower

Overcast it was yesterday morning, though it cleared up later. This is the tower of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel  in the center of Belgrade,  situated in the old part of the city.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY---the walker...

A bit mysterious, I think. You can't tell if he's coming toward you or walking away. Only I know, hee, hee.

The Struggle---and the chess players

I was kind of hoping the fellow  on the left would sit down at the chess table behind the statue of The Struggle and play so that I could say the statue was struggling and so were the players; each trying to win.

But he stood....

ABC WEDNESDAY--"T" is for "temptation"

Maybe it's because I'm currently following  a diet that allows  no sugar or wheat flour that I find myself drawn to bakery windows....

Which one do you want?  You  can eat one for me, too...

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS: Tesla had it right

Sad, but true.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"R" is for "revelry"

These fellows in the small town of Cajetina (CHY-yeh-tee-na) in southwest Serbia are either on their way to or coming from a wedding.

Serbian weddings are full of all kinds of fanfare and revelry, and in the countryside, that often includes firing off guns....notice the holes in the flag....

Through a dirty window

It was balmy enough the other day for a friend and me to sit outdoors.  This Papillon's owner preferred to sit indoors, so this little chap had to peer through a not-so-clean window.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--up on the roof...

It really has been a long time since I've posted....  I don't have any recent shadow shots, so this one of my granddaughter Mila from last summer will have to do.

My very good friend has a rooftop terrace, and to escape the summer heat she invited Mila and me to cool off. Mila stripped to her underwear while I just got my feet wet.....  The green cloth served as a sunscreen.

SKYWATCH--southwestern Serbia

Well, I'm back, and none too soon. Haven't posted since July....  So many things were going on, and I just needed a break.

Two weeks ago I took a trip through southwestern Serbia and encountered some stunning landscapes, many of which were taken from a moving vehicle...

I've lost my blojo....

I was going to write that I've lost my mojo, but didn't even have a photo to illustrate it, so I googled.

Came up with 'blojo' instead, which is defined above.

I doubt if I've lost it completely, but more likely misplaced it...  Partly due to still organizing my endless India photos, and I am one of those people who likes to finish one job, then move on...

So bear with me. Yankee will return at some point, with a refreshed blojo.

CROSS-CULTURE BREAKFAST

Have been in India one week. I brought my hostess some ajvar, which she found goes very well on a chapati.
