ABC WEDNESDAY--"U" is for "utensils'
Utensils and maybe 'unexpected,' too. Had a cup of coffee with a friend and spotted these utensils, napkins, and oil and vinegar on my way out.

Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night....
"Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night...." So goes the US Post Office's motto that their couriers will not be deterred by the elements.
The same could be said for some stalwart chess players in Kalemegdan Park.
Snapped this photo of chessmen all set up by a fellow who went off to find something dry to sit on.

Church tower
Overcast it was yesterday morning, though it cleared up later. This is the tower of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel in the center of Belgrade, situated in the old part of the city.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY---the walker...
A bit mysterious, I think. You can't tell if he's coming toward you or walking away. Only I know, hee, hee.

SKYWATCH--sunset on Ada Ciganlija
Ada Ciganlija, or Gypsy (river) Island is actually now a peninsula. Beautiful sunset here....

The Struggle---and the chess players
I was kind of hoping the fellow on the left would sit down at the chess table behind the statue of The Struggle and play so that I could say the statue was struggling and so were the players; each trying to win.
But he stood....

ABC WEDNESDAY--"T" is for "temptation"
Maybe it's because I'm currently following a diet that allows no sugar or wheat flour that I find myself drawn to bakery windows....
Which one do you want? You can eat one for me, too...

Sittin'
This lady is sitting just outside Belgrade's Geological University. Not sure why, unless she's waiting for someone. Red hair, red lipstick, red boots!

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS: Tesla had it right
Nikola Tesla was right about a lot of things, and this quote rings very true with all that's wrong with the world.
Sad, but true.

MONDAY MURALS--Karadjordje?
Eye-catching mural of, I believe, Đorđe Petrović the founder of modern Serbia, "Black George", who lived from 1768 to 1817.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--red lamp in the shadows...
There's a restaurant in a park I often pass by and sometimes at night, which was the case here. It looks so mysterious...

Sample?
This man was offering some of his homemade cheese (similar to Greek feta) on a mountainside in southwest Serbia.
Tasty it was.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"R" is for "revelry"
These fellows in the small town of Cajetina (CHY-yeh-tee-na) in southwest Serbia are either on their way to or coming from a wedding.
Serbian weddings are full of all kinds of fanfare and revelry, and in the countryside, that often includes firing off guns....notice the holes in the flag....

Through a dirty window
It was balmy enough the other day for a friend and me to sit outdoors. This Papillon's owner preferred to sit indoors, so this little chap had to peer through a not-so-clean window.

MONDAY MURALS--Custom-made shirts
Not that cats wear shirts, but if they did, they might choose the shop whose entrance is on the left.
The button eye kind of troubles me....

SKYWATCH--the fort within a fort
Something's brewing in the sky....but no horrible weather yet. In the foreground is a bronze model of part of Kalemegdan's fortress as it once was.

Feeding the pigeons
I remember feeding the pigeons and the squirrels in a park in my home town. I never see many children doing that here, but many older citizens share their stale bread with the birds.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"Q" is for "quiet observers'
Two ladies enjoying a smoke and a cocktail furtively observe this young man and his pizza....hungry maybe.

CROSS-CULTURE BREAKFAST
Have been in India one week. I brought my hostess some ajvar, which she found goes very well on a chapati.
