SKYWATCH--Who's up at this hour?

Cheerful

I always find that bow ties are cheerful.

Male readers, do you ever wear one?

ABC WEDNESDAY--"C" is for "Caring for the cat"

It's been awfully cold here over the past week or so, and while we're not having a blizzard, it's still rough on street animals.

Someone is obviously looking after this cat. I especially liked not just the box, but the layers of insulation inside.

Dreaming

Short of  'out and about' photos again. Just too much going on, including a bit of babysitting.  Snapped this photo the other day of my little grandson, who will be two end of March.

MONDAY MURALS--In Savamala

There's a part of old Belgrade down by the river called Savamala.  It's a old warehouse area that is now morphing into a hip community.  I love the mixture of decrepit and new, and its street art.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--the stairs

I take my camera out even at night when I walk the dog, so you can thank my dog for this shot, I guess....in a way...that makes no sense....I'm tired...

The end is near.....

The end is near....Serbian holiday season keep going and going, like the Energizer Bunny, but the end is near.

These yummy cakes were made by a close friend of mine for her family's slava or patron saint's day.

My favorites are the ones with the white icing in the middle of the try.  Crushed walnuts on the bottom....

SKYWATCH--the view from my daughter's old room

This is the view from my daughter's old room in the apartment where my son now lives in New Belgrade.  The room is now occupied by my granddaughter.  When my daughter lived there, the view was much different; just fields and the railroad tracks behind the buildings, the steam heating plant, and the road, but even that was just one lane....

Times change.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"B" is for "Bon appétit"!

There is an old restaurant here in Belgrade I've eaten at many times since I came to "Yugoslavia" in 1977.

There are rumors that it is closing....why, no one seems to be sure, but one thing is sure, since the rumors started, it has been packed. Mind you, it always was, so....

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--the purse shop

Caught this lady reading the paper on a slow day in her purse shop on Balkanska Street, a street known for its many artisan shops....which are rapidly disappearing.

The heat's on....

Steam puffs from the New Belgrade heating plant across the river.  Not to fear; we in the old town get heated, too....

All spiffed up for the New Year

Today is Serbian New Year's Day and these two dogs are spiffed up for the New Year.  I like this because it's a good sign that someone takes care of them and that they aren't just street dogs.

And hey, this guy  still hasn't invited me in....Remember this post?

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--Prague train station

While waiting in our bus to depart for a day trip to Dresden, Germany, I 'shot' this woman looking through a window of the Prague railroad station.

Jazzy nails

I am sure that most of you photobloggers would agree that we are never bored with our camera.  I always find something to photograph, even while seated in the bus.   This time it was a bus to Prague, where I went with a friend for New Year's.

The young woman these nails belong to was seated across from me....snap, snap discreetly, though I am fairly certain she wouldn't have objected if I had asked.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"Z" is for "Zapata"

I haven't been posting in the first few days of the New Year, because I was in Prague.  I'll try to get back on track soon, and visit you, too.

I zoomed in on this fellow through the window of  a Prague grocery store.  He's pretty concerned about his mustache, that for sure will never be like Emilio Zapata's. Catch other Zs on Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC WEDNESDAY.
