SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--darkness and light

Symbolically, this elderly gentleman like many others his age, walks both in the shadows and in the light.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--reflecting on life....

I often see this fellow sitting along a busy street near me and at first wondered why he wouldn't choose a quieter place.

But I think he has found inner peace, and has blocked out all that's going on around him.

Smarter than you thought?

Snails can read!  I watched this little fellow work his way through this text, and I have no reason to doubt he can read....

ABC WEDNESDAY---W is for Wall

Another sorry shot....this was once a beautiful building, long ago, with its reliefs and detail.

Now it's been painted....and not in a good way.

In Vogue

Not necessarily Vogue magazine, but she's definitely stylish.

Of course as soon as I try to sneak a shot, it often happens that the person turns around.  This lovely young woman did notice me, but didn't object.

ABC WEDNESDAY--V is for Vulkanizer

In English, there is no specific word for a person who repairs tires .  Vulcan was the god of fire in mythology, and fire of course is used to convert rubber into more durable materials by adding sulfur.  The process is known as vulcanization.

I'm sorry we don't have a word for this kind of repairman.  My friends and I simply say, when in need of one, that we're going to the vulkanizer!

COLOR-COORDINATED
