THEME DAY--EARTH, DIRT

Not the latest dirt here, but from about six years ago. This is me in the Deliblato Sands,  the largest sandy terrain in Europe, once part of a vast prehistoric desert, having originated from the withdrawal of the Pannonian Sea.

I still have the h at, pants, jacket, shoes, and purse, but sadly no longer my little black dog, Bibi, who is following. I don't have the camera either, having recently switched to mirrorless.

SKYWATCH--spring symmetry or almost

 Houses in smaller towns here are usually painted in some bright colors. I like this, all the more because this Sunday is Serbian Orthodox Easter, and the brightly-colored houses remind me of Easter eggs.

TOPPING OFF HER NINTH DECADE

 A big fat Happy Birthday to our former colleague, Gillian, seated n the middle.She is 89 today, has all her smarts, walks everywhere, and is interested in literally everything. May the rest of us be like her.

You can see she likes cake, too.

CHOWIN' DOWN

 Big boys eating big burgers. A bit fuzzy. I was waaaay on the other side of the street with just my 50mm lens.

STILL A BIT CHILLY

 It was still a bit chilly when I snapped this candid shot. Even so, this lady was still a bit overdressed.

MONDAY MURALS--under the eye of The Little Prince

 This mural graces one of the walls of Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in downtown Belgrade.  Vladislav Ribnikar was a journalist and founder of Serbia's most respected newspaper, Politika.

This school has had since 1927 a French  program offering six classes per week starting in first grade (other schools begin a foreign language in grade three), with teachers from France.

It's understandable then why the mural featuring Antoine de Saint-Exupery's THE LITTLE PRINCE presides over the schoolyard.

 Truthfully, this is not a winter photo. It was taken about two weeks ago near Kovin, Serbia.  Still too wintry-looking for me.  Bring on the warmer weather!  (Today it IS warm!)

SKYWATCH--BEAUTIFYING THE BALCONY

A phone shot, and not so clear.  Despite our recent cold weather, people are still beautifying their balconies. I think if I were a flower I would  be very cold.

THE PRIEST WHO WAITS

 This photo was taken on the sly from across the street and was cropped. I was testing my new mirrorless camera's abilities. The priest looks a little put-out; perhaps whoever he's waiting for is late...

THE DRAGONS OF MY CHILDHOOD

 There is only one brass dragon shown here, but I have two of these candle holders. They belonged to my great-grandmother.
