Yesterday Serbia's parliamentary elections took place, and it had all come down to a very simple choice: forwards or backwards, i.e. forward toward the European Union or back to the isolationism of the '90's. This little Belgrade sparrow, complete with his little šajkača (SHY-kah-cha) a typical Serbian hat, is pleased to announce that citizens voted to move forward. Very cool! In all respects. Love that little sparrow!
I saw this mentioned on the Reuters (now Thomson Reuters) daily photo slideshow (available on the website, they show the best 24 photos taken by their photographers each day). Interesting to read about it here too, and I love the little bird!
Democracy prevails, at least for now.
That's a jolly looking little sparrow. Obviously we know where his vote was cast.
