Radovan and Driving in Greece

Radovan found out it is very, very hard to park your car in Athens, and if he ever buys a car and comes back, it will be one of these Smart Cars or else even a bike like the big fellow on the billboard is riding.Radovan was scared out of his wits by noisy motorcycles (what a change from his peaceful village), and couldn't believe most riders don't wear helmets...or protective legwear.... In any case, he finally decided to not even think about driving in Greece at all, seeing as how gasoline costs around 1.40 euros a LITER. But now back here in Serbia where the standard of living is lower, it's pretty much the same price. So he'll stick to his donkey or to "Shanks' mare.". (My grandfather used that expression all the time...go Google!)

I am loving your Greek series! When I was in Rome there was a constant buzz of scooters. Most everyone had a helmet but what surprised me was to see men in suits, ladies in business attire or even dressed for some fashionable partying riding around on these.

The Smart cars are a hoot. We have a few around here but not many. I think I got the biggest kick out of the sumo looking guy on the bike. Ohhh, that seat must be soooo uncomfortable. Ouch!

Lots of things conspiring against Radovan getting some transport! Our petrol prices have just fallen by 4 pence! The first time its gone down for years! What next? A payrise?!

Ah, nice to see "Shank's pony" (as I know it) getting an airing! Thought it was quite a British phrase!

I really need to get time to catch up on my Blog reading... I don't forget about people, I just need longer days!

Interesting how another Radovan has recently made the news - I think I prefer your little fellow!

Love that bike shot, also the billboard with Sumo, they work nice together I think!

THE ROOF CAVED IN....

Well, not the entire roof. Just the back side, which is not visible here. Every year I make a gingerbread house. Notice I said 'made,...
