Žika Obretković plays the flute
The street in Skadarlija that I posted on January 11th also boasts several trompe l'oeil murals, including this one. In this mural you can see one of Belgrade's popular street figures, Žika Obretković, playing his flute. Žika, who is developmentally challenged, has been playing around the Skadarlija area for at least 15 years, where he entertains passers-by.

so vivid and so realistic almost Monet-like, especially with the snow around it. Beautiful
Very effective mural. I like it and what the young man does.
The flute is such a lovely instrument:) I've been playing since the 4th grade.
Looks a bit chilly for those shorts!
Interesting...
How bright and colourful. These are certainly the thing to brighten up a blank wall or ugly street. There are several Trompe oeil murals round Nice probably commisioned by City Hall..
very cool - it reminds me of the WPA murals from the 30s.
Dupla frula - hard to play well.
I just love that the mural depicts a scene from Skadarlija and how it's framed.
What a nice tribute to have for this man. I do like the mural, but even more the spirit in which it was created.
Murals are such a brilliant way to add life to an otherwise dull wall.
I find it fascinating that someone like Zika can enjoy the freedom of the town without coming to harm or derision. We here have a lot to learn. Lovely vibrant mural to capture him too.
Yes I like this - very vivid and lifelike ..
