Reflections Weekend--The Yellow Fiat

I came across this car in a gallery window downtown. It is a Fiat, year unknown to me. There were a couple of other cars inside, but I couldn't go in since the gallery was closed. I like the contrast between the old Fiat and the newer cars reflected in the glass.

See more reflections on James' Reflections Weekend.

NICE! great reflection and a true vintage auto.
Daria (from Pozega) and I would scream "Fico!" and frighten everyone in the car when we saw one. My dad (6'1") would squeeze into a Zastava 650 with a door that hinged at the back. I hear it was humorous to see him get in and out. I hear they are manufacturing the Fico again.

A lovely yellow dinosaur... and I'll bet the hubcaps could give some nice reflections if one could get close enough to them...

I think this is a Fiat 128. Maybe not, but a Fiat 128 (not a 4-door) was my first and only new car. I bought it in 1974, $3,000 new, and it was olive green and I loved it. No air conditioning. No radio. I loved it anyway.

That is an interesting juxtaposition.

This should be Fiat 1300, the venerable "hiljadu trista" or better known as "tristac"

Hello, readers. Knez, Judith: Someone also wrote me directly about this car, claiming it was the famous 'tristac' Zastava 1300. I Googled that car and it seems to be. (But it did say Fiat on the front; believe the two companies were linked.)

Check out this link and also here's part of what it says:

"Today, many across the former Yugoslavia recall the 1300 as Zastava's best automobile ever: the Jugoslovenski Mercedes, they call it. 201,160 copies of the 1300 and 1500 were produced from 1961 through December 20th, 1979."

I'd be happy to motor along in that mellow yellow tristac.

If you had this bright yellow car here in NYC, you could pretend to be a taxicab and make some extra cash. Looks like you're part of this reflection too, yes?

You certainly have the eye for the unusual. Nice contrast between the old and the new in reflection.

I too like the contrast. The Fiat is an oldie.

PICKLED RED ONIONS

My grandmother used to make these around Thanksgiving and now so have I.  Great as a tart side, in salads, or in a leftover turkey sandwic...
