Stinging Nettle Soup

I can't even count how many times I used to walk through a field in France and get stung by nettles. I finally learned how to recognize them. None of my French friends made nettle soup, but it's quite popular here in Serbia. Above is nettle soup, served with thick yogurt and warm bread. I've ordered a side of grilled hot peppers, too....

A recipe for nettle soup can be found here.

I've eaten nettles a few times and really liked the taste. Yet the last time the person preparing them didn't rinse them enough times and I had numb lips. The peppers look good too.

Hmmm - don't think I tasted that one. Do you have burdock soup as well?

I don't think I ever ad them. Sounds good though.

Humm cela me rappelle mon enfance, ma grand mère paternelle nous faisait souvent de la soupe aux orties, j'aimais bien cela, mais cela fait bien longtemps que j'en ai pas mange

I will put eating nettle soup on my "to do" list. Just when I think I've tried it all, I learn about something new! I stopped by because my post today is about a person in Belgrade and a person from Belgrade near Greensboro. I thought you would be interested.
