Knock 'em off...

Drab is this scene, except for the 'pretty' icicles. They are pretty, but dangerous as well. Several people in Belgrade have been injured by falling snow or icicles in the last couple of weeks. As I type this, we still have about 8 inches of snow, and some more fell today. By law, tenants or owners must clean the sidewalks in front of their buildings and knock off icicles (I hope they look first...) before they grow too long. I helped a friend get rid of these...and we looked down first....

Those look really dangerous. I wouldn't want to be hit by one of those!

Someone of seriously injured by ice coming off what used to be called the Sears Tower in Chicago.
Elegant subtle tones in your composition, tho.

I laugh thinking of that great scene in The Christmas Story when the boy gets hit in the eye with the icicle. '

Glad you thought to take a picture before knocking these down—they are some spectacular icicles! Bet you'll be ready when spring arrives.

Suppose those could be dangerous. At 80 here in Tucson today, no icicles.

Wow, Virginia, I'm going to have to Google that one!

This is a gorgeous shot - well it was until you pointed out the danger of the icicles. Beautiful shot.

Having lived in the northland, I do remember how dangerous these things were...I'd forgotten, though.

Nice of you to help a friend. If there's still snow about, they'll probably grow back, right? Then you have to knock 'em down all over again.

Sheesh. Life is full of nothing but toil! :-)

Beautiful shot, and I am glad to know that you helped knock them down... lovely to see but could be deadly... like a spear!

I love how the icicles hand down in your photo! Fun to see the urban living arrangements!

THE ROOF CAVED IN....

Well, not the entire roof. Just the back side, which is not visible here. Every year I make a gingerbread house. Notice I said 'made,...
