MONDAY MURALS---not a clue

Not a clue who this fellow is, but it seems as if it might be a self-portrait, judging from the spray paint in his bag.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY --on the 'bottom' of Skadarlija

Skadarlija is Belgrade's so-called Bohemian quarter. He's a dog lounging under a street light.

No more events, just a(nother) COVID hospital....

It seems like arenas around the world these days are named for the firms that put up the money toward building them, like SAFECO Field in Seattle and this one, Stark Arena.  Stark is a company that makes cookies and chocolates.

This arena has been host to music concerts, magician David Copperfield, Disney on Ice shows, and the one I attended 10 years back, Walking With Dinosaurs.

Don't expect any more shows for a while.  The arena has now been turned into a temporary hospital for mild COVID cases.

When will this end?

There's a story here...

I know I have posted a photo of this wall along Hilandarska Street downtown, but for the life of me I cannot find it. On my search box on my blog I typed in art, love, junk, decorated, etc. but no luck.

All I remember from when I wrote before is that a number of years ago, apparently a young man deposited a small figurine in his (then) girlfriend's mailbox in this building. Apparently she didn't look too often, and the box quickly filled up. The young man decided to keep going, and added items quite frequently on the small ledge on the building.

I don't believe this love story had a happy ending.

Anyway, from time to time frustrated apartment dwellers get tired of this 'mess' and take it down, but it comes right back....

Interesting now to see that discarded masks have been added. A sign of the times.

MONDAY MURALS--Igor Bulat

I had no idea who Igor Bulat was. His mural above is located just across a small street from Radio Television Belgrade, and is adjacent to a small stadium that holds music concerts and in the winter turns into an iceskating rink.

I looked him up. He was a journalist and a great supporter and fan of Belgrade's Partizan soccer club.

One meter deep

This hole just appeared on a street leading to my friend's house. One meter deep, no pipes below, and it shows (not so visible here) that the asphalt is only about 6 inches thick.  Woe to the car or person that falls in. Fortunately, someone marked it, in a haphazard way.

Let's hope the city fixes it soon.

A dog's life: So what's wrong with that?

I seem to remember that the expression "It's a dog's life," was derogatory, alluding that dogs had a rougher life that we homo sapiens.

Not so, I think, since my Shorkie is truly enjoying cooling off on cold stone watered down by a fountain. An of course i had just washed her the day before...

A dog's life. Not bad.

Driving wild

Spotted (pun intended) this car the other day on a street not far from me. Wondering if this paint job would look good on my car, ha.  I posted it on Facebook, and a local friend told me that this beer garden, advertised on the car, is now occupying the premises of an old landmark fish restaurant here that I understood was to be restore to its former glory.  That locale is not far from me either, so I need to go by and see if this is so.
