ABC Wednesday "H" is for "H"....and haiku....

I think there are actually two H's here:  the cement one and the one formed by the two wooden poles and the crosspiece on the cement H.

For quite a while I've been intrigued by the simplicity of haikus, an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.  Originally, haikus related to a season, but evolved into creating a picture of a strong emotion or glimpse of a fleeting moment.  If you check out the two haiku blogs on my Blogs I Visit column on the right, you won't be disappointed.

I decided that from now on (read:  until I get really good or else terribly frustrated), I will write a haiku for each photo I post. You don't have to read it; it will be humbly inserted at the bottom of each post.  You DO have to read this one, though, since it has to do with ABC WEDNESDAY. Here it is:

It's a dog's life....

A dog's life it is.  They can't read, or maybe they can and just don't care.

Wild Weekend

Hmmm...what's the story behind this black bra strapped onto a lamp post in Tasmajdan Park?  Looks like a bird visited the bra before I saw it, too.

THEME DAY--Pink!

Some days the Fates smile upon me.  Upon learning that the September theme for City Daily Photo blogs is pink, I set out in search of....pink.  It's not the best time of year to look for this color, but lo and behold, whom did I find on Belgrade's Bohemian quarter street, Skadarlija, but a Belgrade legend, Zika Obretkovic. I tried sneaking a shot of him, but he saw me, and said, "Take a REAL photo, please!" and posed with Bibi, who was sporting her pink collar.  Zika has been around 'forever', walking around Belgrade's center, making people happy, and playing his flute, like he does on the link below.

And today he was wearing pink!

WEEKEND REFLECTION--Gaudi in Belgrade?

These reflections on a building on Dobracina Street downtown reminded me of the architectural designs of Antonio Gaudi.

SKYWATCH--looking west

The light really was this odd, sepia tone, probably due to the atmospheric conditions and intense heat when I took the photo.

Those nails...and the hair....

This lady definitely caught my eye the other day.  At first it was her hair, but then I noticed her nails....

She wasn't a young woman either....are you bold enough to wear your hair like this, at any age?

ABC WEDNESDAY "G" is for "Garfield"

I'm not sure if Garfield has ever visited the Belgrade zoo, but someone thought he deserved his own mosaic on the zoo's outside wall, along with some of the other animals pictured below.

Lemme see, lemme see!

I watched this delightful little coquette have her photo taken by her father on his iphone (is that what it is...?) and then they sat down and enjoyed the results.

The tennis instructor...

This tennis instructor is probably telling the two young girls that they're too close to the net.  He was awfully cute, so I can't say I blame them for wanting a closer look...  ;-)

NOTE:  The Theme Day for September is PINK.  If you're participating, check in on September 1st at the City Daily Photo Portal.

SUNDAY BRIDGES--the bridge to Pancevo

Lots of flowers and not much traffic on the bridge to the town of Pancevo, 12 kilometers from Belgrade.
