"Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night...."   So goes the US Post Office's motto that their couriers will not be deterred by the elements.

The same could be said for some stalwart chess players in Kalemegdan Park.

Church tower

Overcast it was yesterday morning, though it cleared up later. This is the tower of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel  in the center of Belgrade,  situated in the old part of the city.

The Struggle---and the chess players

I was kind of hoping the fellow  on the left would sit down at the chess table behind the statue of The Struggle and play so that I could say the statue was struggling and so were the players; each trying to win.

But he stood....

Maybe it's because I'm currently following  a diet that allows  no sugar or wheat flour that I find myself drawn to bakery windows....
