THEME DAY--JUNE--SMILE

And smiling they are.  This is from my archive since I have not found many people smiling at all the rain we've been having.  This group of folk dancers was performing at HRTKOVCI, a village not far from Belgrade, where Roman ruins were found about 25 years ago. They created a festival called Roman Days, even though this group is not sporting togas.

MACHO MAN

We had one decent sunny day recently, just enough apparently for this guy to sport shots and show off his muscles.  He had great tattoos on his left arm that I saw when I passed him; no photo.

TRIBUTE TO RUSKIN BOND

RUSKIN BOND is an Indian author whom I had the pleasure of meeting while on my last trip to India. A delightful man, and his stories and books have captivated readers for many years.

One such, written in 1980 and made into a film in 2005, is THE BLUE UMBRELLA and so of course I could not help but think of him when I saw this big one in Kalemegdan Park overlooking New Belgrade.

SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY--apples waiting to be eaten

I must admit I do not eat an apple a day to keep the doctor away. I should...these will be consumed very shortly.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--a bag my size

Finally found a  bag that will fit all my stuff inside, including my camera when it rains...and my reflection and my dog's.

COFFEE TIME

Given that the Turks were in many parts of the former Yugoslavia for nearly 500 years, it's logical that some of their customs remained.  Such is the case with 'Turkish' coffee.  The cups are not typical, but the little pot with a long handle, a džezva (pronounced JEZZ-vah) is.  Here in Serbia though I have never seen one with a top, but imagine that it was added to keep the coffee hot. On second thought, it might belong to the teapot on the left, but couldn't fit on the shelf.

BLACK AND WHITE SPARKLY

On one of our gloomier days recently, I spotted this balloon seller who seemed to emit his own light.
