HOTEL CONSTANTINE

I believe I've shown you this hotel before. It's just around the corner from me. Somehow I never had caught its reflections from this angle.

An oldie but goodie.

I have a weakness for Deux-Chevaux....I used to have one in Paris for a while, older than this model, since the front doors opened 'backwards'.  It died on me in front of the Eiffel Tower  before I came here...and I abandoned it there.

I like this one's lemon-yellow.

Museum of Pedagogy

These kids remind me of characters from a Stephen King novel...but they are standing outside Belgrade's MUSEUM OF PEDAGOGY, which, I am ashamed to say, I have never visited.  I will....

Have a look through the site.

MONDAY MURALS--in love?

Not sure what this mural represents....but there are hearts, so maybe this couple is in love?

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS---the scary hand

This might look a bit scary, but it's the reflection of my own hand in the window of my bedroom. I was parting the curtains to have a peek out...

SKYWATCH--the old brewery

Bright blue winter sky above the now defunct Belgrade brewery.  If you click on the link, you'll find a very interesting of elephant teeth, a human skull, and the first Belgrader....

They don't make 'em like this anymore

I had to intensify this photo taken with my (not-so-good) phone camera.  I often pass by this doorway and wonder if those who pass through appreciate its beauty and that of the wall surrounding it.

FEEDING THE PIGEONS

It was really warm today for February, but this lady is still bundled up as she feeds the pigeons.

Macarons

Macarons, not to be confused with macaroons or with French President Emmanuel Macron, have become very popular over the last years. Personally, I like them, but they're a bit overrated, in my opinion.

These shown in the pasty case at Belgrade's Hotel Moskva would appeal to me. No psychedlic colors (many I have seen must have been created by a pastry chef with a heavy hand on the coloring), and they just 'look' right.

I shall try one next time. Or two.

The Victor is back

The statue of the Victor that stood in Kalemegdan Park is back.  It had been temporarily removed for refurbishing and today was returned to its elevated pedestal.

Many thanks to my friend Marianne who took these shots!

I have shown you the Victor several times, but if you go here, you can read about the statue's history and upgrade.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--Cake!

There's a new cake/confection shop near me and I drool at their chocolates when I walk by. They also have a wild selection of cakes. This one is dedicated to, and I imagine in honor of, Atelje 212, a nearby theater and to a restaurant next door to it where actors (used to) go.

The person on the cake is Zoran Radmilovic, a Serbian actor who had some of the most memorable roles in Serbian cinema, then went to act in the theater.

I love the things I learn while blogging...

Facade faces

Three faces peer down from this old facade...they're stylized faces, no one in particular.

Sweet time...

Sneaky phone shot. This lady is enjoying either a wheatberry sweet or ground chestnut sweet with whipped cream....can't tell. But both are really good at Petkovic's sweet shop. Been around since 1901.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--the sphere

Another from-my-window-shot, this time through a glass sphere I bought in India. Fun to play with.

STILL RACING AND WINNING

I bought the Rubik's Race game several years ago for my granddaughter when she was around nine. Now she is still playing and honestly, u...
