This seller was actually one of five, all very close together, on Belgrade's pedestrian street, Knez Mihailova. So do you think that he boils the corn first in that big pot and then finishes them off on the grill?
The signs are in English. Do they expect a lot of English speaking tourists in this area? Also, in Serbian do you say kukuruza?

Pja, yes, he does boil it in the pot (actually some people like it boiled and would just buy it that way), then finish it off on the grill.
Also, yes, there are quite a few-English-speaking (or English understanding!) tourists who come this way. Many start out in Vienna taking Danube river cruises.

In my region (northern Italy) we don't have such corn sellers. Maybe (but this is my opinion) because we don't have "traditions" to sell corn in such way.
I just remember when I was a child and I stole corns from fields and run away when farmes discovered me and my friends... but we ate them without boiling/roasting.
A corn vedor? Who you have thunk it! I love this! I would be one of there best customers!

i found you via marie's blog, and this is so interesting and informative too. i love corn done like this outdoors, we did it and saw it all over africa, as well as in israel. delicious too, evenly slightly burnt.
