A break from bricks

Walking in Kalemegdan Park a week or so ago, I came across a group of masons repairing one of the fortress's huge brick walls. I lingered, hoping to sneak a shot, when the fellow on the left saw me. He waved and said, "Take my photo!" and then called his buddy over, too. Once again I promised them a photo, which I've since taken to them, and they were happy! Check out more bricks and the meaning of the fortress's name here .

It's so great that people there are willing to be in photos. Americans are SO very private, though I noticed it in Britain, too. If you try to take someone's photo, they tend to look at you like some sort of criminal. So I haven't dared to try it very often. These men look like they enjoy being photographed!

You've got your whole country posing for you! Good job. They were probably happy with their little photo break for the rest of the afternoon.

They are so cute & somewhat comical! They reminded me instantly of Ckalja & his sidekick. I vaguely recall his shows now but I remember my parents & grandmother just laughing & laughing. I saw some more recent ones on Youtube & thought them funny.
When I was little, my favorite show was Na Slovo, Na Slovo - I know they did more episodes later in the 70's. What was your childrens' favorite TV show?

I love this shot, Bibi. They look not so much like masons as film actors. No Hollywood dresser could have costumed them anymore perfectly, and they both look like character actors! The light and shadows and lines of the scaffolding really make this a super shot for me.

This shot is very nice and good for the workers...

Like Kim, this made me think of Hollywood. Maybe it was the scaffolding used for dancers behind Elvis Presley in one of his performances. Anyway, they are adorable.

Tash, my kids' favorite show was Branko Kockica's. For those who don't know, Branko was sort of a peppier Mr. Rogers, who sang and played the guitar, and also taught kids lessons from frogs to manners.

I love his red overalls - what a wonderful picture. You should publish a book of everyday photos of your country - it is so interesting and refreshing and different from what we are used to seeing everyday here in the US. Besides, you have such a great eye for pictures and yes..the people are so willing to have their photo's taken. In the US, they'd think you were stealing their identity!

I can't quit smiling!!! These two are terrific. Kim's right, right out a movie. I am having viisons of a comedy with these two as the stars. I have found here in the south that most people are willing to be photographed and in fact some ham it up like yours did and what I really wanted was to catch them off guard!

I'm always fascinated by people's desire to have their picture taken. Must be extroverts ... and the chance for immortalizing?
