How sweet it is!

Comedian Jackie Gleason said "How sweet it is!" about Brooklyn on his show "The Honeymooners," but inhabitants of Hershey, Pennsylvania, America's chocolate town, believe it's sweeter here! I took a tour of the Chocolate Town Exhibit, which is a far cry (for the better, in a way!) of the tours I took as a kid. Back then, you could tour the real factory, come finger-licking close to the vats of chocolate, and no one had heard of safety precautions! All the same, this tour was fun.

LOVE IT! I just took my son there last Thursday. We live only a couple hours away and make the trip several times a year just to "stock up" on chocolate. We always finish out chocolate tour & shopping with big slices of chocolate cake & cold milk. It is a relaxing get away for us both.

I understand you can smell the town before you get there. Did you?

I heard the same thing B Squared did—that it's an olfactory experience just driving through the town. After the tour, they do give you some chocolate "on the house" to take home, right?

B Squared---yep, you can smell the town before you arrive, and it smells good!

Alexa--yes, but only one tiny, tiny sample bar. When I was a kid, you got a handful, but I guess there were far fewer visitors then.
