"Death to Fascism, freedom to the people!"

Death to fascism, freedom to the people!” was a Yugoslav Partisan motto, later the official slogan of the entire Resistance movement.

The slogan became popular after death of Croatian Partisan Stjepan Filipović. As he was about to be hanged on May 22, 1942, he defiantly thrust his hands upward and denounced the Germans and their Axis allies as murderers. A subsequently-famous photograph was taken from which a statue was cast.

These busts stand in Kalemegdan Park.

interesting post for today Bibi.
I also like your divine lamp from yesterday as well as the clever way you worked in the word 'desire'.

I always admire freedom fighters. It was a time in history when the world went insane.

Great picture and slogan, heroes are indispensable for mankind. In our days there is a need for one or two.

I second that sentiment!

«Louis» is always moved to read of those who participated in the various resistance movements across Europe in the dark days of World War II.

British writer Antony Beevor paints one of the most chilling portraits of Hitler's lust for blood, even the blood of the German people, in his "Berlin- The Downfall - 1945".

Comme quoi les actes sont bien plus difficiles a realiser que les mots a ecrire!
