As far as I know, Belgrade doesn't yet have a Bridge of Lovers' Locks. There's one in Vrnjacka Banja that's quite impressive. The other day I came upon this lock, Buby and Beby's, whoever they may be, hanging on the bars of a door of Kalemegdan Park's Roman well.
Let's see how many locks are to follow....
Is there a lock-covered Lovers' Bridge in your city?
P.S. Just remembered this earlier post of mine about locks.
Daily Haiku
Fasten the lock tight
Lovers' names written for all time
Throw away the key

Don't know these people but it seems they have a lock on being the first to hang a lock on the bars of this door at the Roman well. Not sure why people want to do this, either. A lock on bars of a door (or a bridge) does not necessarily mean a lock on love...does it? :)
Yes, there is. We've got them on the Corktown pedestrian bridge.
Where's there's one, more will probably follow. There seem to be more and more on the Brooklyn Bridge, but still not as many as I would expect.
There are some wonderful bridges across the Mississippi in St. Paul, esp. downtown, but haven't seen any locks. I wonder (can't remember) if they're designed to allow locks to be attached. I'll have to check after we return from santa fe.
I think it's really just a European thing to do lovers' locks like this. I think it's a neat idea, though, and I wish we had something similar in my city!
I had never heard of lover's locks until Jilly showed us a bridge full of them in Ventimiglia, Italy, next to Menton. A single one is even sweeter.
Lowell, I think these two chose this barred door, since I can't think of one pedestrian bridge here that has a grill or metal bars. Most are little wooden ones that don't make snapping a lock on easy. I'm curious to see if others will follow....and I will snap away.
Passing by these lover's locks I always wonder how many of these lovers survived and are still in love with each other? I have a feeling that in many cases love is not that eternal anymore……I've seen these in many towns and cities I had lived in.
Hi Bibi! This is in re to your question as to how many golf balls are at the bottom of the pond: Lots!
I remember reading about the infamous 17th hole at the PGA course in Ponte Vedre (sp?) in Jacksonville. The pull out several hundred thousand golf balls in that water every year!
None in my city!
But the first time I saw in Venice I was stunned. There are so many of them!!!
A lock to follow...
I believe there is Bibi, but I think you have to pay to put your lock there which to me takes away all the romance oui :) Buby and Beby are trendsetters :)
Bibi, this is great!! I really hope people will follow Buby and Beby :)- it would be nice to have something like that in Belgrade, even more on the door of the Roman well!
