Lepnski Vir, or Lepenski Whirl, is a Mesolithic site dating from around 9500-7000 B.C. Yes, you read that right. You can read more at this link. Lepenski Vir is located along the Danube river, down towards the border with Romania at a point referred to as The Iron Gates.

The Iron Gates I have heard about. Archaeology has always fascinated me!
