Impressions of Belgrade and Serbia and maybe photos from an in-country trip by a long-term ex-pat.

If you're wondering where your order is...
If you're wondering where your order is, look no farther. Nowadays many people are avoiding restaurants and getting tired of cooking at home, so what better way to treat yourself than ordering out? But you need to be patient.
This particular food service is actually very well-respected. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night deters their speedy delivery...but everyone deserves a break, and let's hope his box is empty...

MONDAY MURALS --Peek-a-boo!
Had I been willing to stand in the middle of the street for a better shot, it would have looked like this fellow was really peering over the fence. Didn't want to get hit by a car...but, this house is just opposite Belgrade's New Cemetery. Ha.

Partisan Reading to His Children
I have googled and googled and thoroughly examined this sculpture in Kalemegdan Park, searching fo the name of the sculptor. The closest I found was a photographer online who wrote the name of the statue, but no sculptor. I imagine he didn't know either, but I wrote to him, and am awaiting an answer.
UPDATE! I have now learned from the photographer I asked that the sculptor was Jelena Jovanovic, and it was created in 1950.
FYI, Partisans were, as Wiki says: "The Yugoslav Partisans, or the National Liberation Army, officially the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia, was the Communist-led resistance to the Axis powers in occupied Yugoslavia during World War II. Their leader was Josip Broz Tito."

A bit of India
Yearning to travel to India and here in many places I am frequently reminded of the country I am missing.
Not great quality on this shot. Done with my not-so-smart phone from across the street.
The fellow pushing the cart reminded me of similar street sellers in India, colors and all.
I think the guy in front of the tree thought I was taking HIS picture...

A DOME, A BIRD, NO MOON--SKYWATCH
Just what the title says. I had gone up to the roof cafe of a building near the Federal Parliament hoping for a good shot of the full moon....but the moon was hidden for quite a while and didn't seem so big when it did appear.

Serbian staples
I could have thrown an onion in this still life, if I had had one, to make it a trio, since those three vegetables are the holiest of vegetables in a Serbian diet.

Never been there...
A recent evening walk made me focus (yes, pun intended) on this window of a restaurant. The whole front is eye-catching in a retro way, but unfortunately a good shot was impossible because of a streetlight and lots of cars parked in my way.
Must go. Looks cute.

"Not in Kansas anymore"
You know you're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy, when you see facades, domes, and rooftop art like this.

MONDAY MURALS--Tanja Boskovic
Once again, I have to confess my ignorance in knowing who the subject of this mural is. Her name is Tanja Boskovic, and she is an actress as well. You can read about her right here.
Usually these murals are devoted to persons no longer with us, but such is not the case here. She is now 67.
