Desensitized

During my travels this past year, I have seen many people begging...  I have to admit that I have become somewhat desensitized to their plight.  Her sign reads, 'Help me (buy) medicine.'  True or not, who knows?  I gave her  a few dinars.

Do you give to those who beg?

If they don't have it, it doesn't exist

I often pass this shop that's been around for years, and am always amazed at the selection of remotes they have, old and new. I think they repair them, too.  At least some people don't just toss their remotes and get a new one.

THEME DAY--shelter--The Smederevo Fortress

Was hard-pressed to find a shelter shot, since I've had little free time to roam the streets.  This was taken a while back in Smederevo, about 45 kilometers southeast of Belgrade.  The fortress was build in the early 1400s and withstood several attacks by the Ottomans before being seriously damaged in WWII.  As you can see, it's been restored.

I love this man's face.  Despite his flowers and his expression, he isn't looking up to catch a glimpse of his Juliette, but rather is watching a construction site....  How some men can look so enraptured over a construction site, I do not understand...

Classic view of Avala Tower from Kalemegdan Park.  It was early, so I doubt there was anyone up in the tower looking back at me.

Cat on a Cold Plastic Roof

A reference to Tennessee Williams' play and then movie with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman.

This cat reminded me of this photo taken four years ago.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"K" is for "Ka-boom!"

Well, probably not a very loud "Ka-boom" from this little Yugoslav Army tank dated 1934.  Probably not enough oomph to send a cannonball to the archaic waste basket nearby.  If you live in Europe and are of a certain age, ahem, you may remember these litter baskets. You'd toss trash in them and the cleaning person would come around, lift up the basket, then sweep the trash into a little shovel and then into a big bin and move on.
