Skywatch--Beware the comet!

Not a real comet, but a jet plane, I think, or perhaps I've spotted a UFO and didn't know it.

I opted to say it was a comet, since today is Friday the 13th...  Historically, comets were thought to be harbingers of bad luck.  For example, the Bayeux Tapestry shows a comet when Harold of Essex snatched the English throne from William of Normandy, soon to be known as The Conqueror.

Are you superstitious?  Will you be cautious today?

I think this lady looks rather elegant, though she did turn a few heads.

I often pass by this cafe with chairs stacked up after closing time.  I like these old-style wooden chairs.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--Trash collectors

When I was a child, we called the men who came to pick up the garbage 'garbage men,' a term which makes me cringe now.  'Sanitation' worker sounds too pretentious, so I've settled for 'trash collector,' hoping that won't sound like it's someone who actually makes a collection of trash.  :-0

The end or a new beginning?

I showed you this bakery nearly three years ago. It now seems as if it's on its way out....note the supports on the right.

 When I uploaded the photo, I could read the sign on the door, which reads, "Being renovated." I hope so, and if they do, that they will keep the character and old charm. Too often I've noticed that 'renovation' ends up meaning 'condemned' here....

Quondam"

"Quondam" is defined as 'that which once was' and so it is with this Volkswagen.  This type, as far as I know, isn't made anymore; correct me if I am wrong.
