A little extra holiday cash

This fountain in front of the Cervantes Institute on Knez Mihailova, Belgrade's pedestrian street, is often a place where people sell books or odds and ends. Kids sometimes sell their old toys, too. This takes place pretty much year-round, but yesterday it seemed as if some folks wanted to make some extra money before the holidays. Nicely displayed books!

If I saw that here, I'd be browsing too!

Now I'm curious: anybody can just set up there? Or do you need to get a permit from somewhere first?

I've bought several books from these guys - tho sometimes they're not that cheap!

Nice outdoor display - I wonder how much profit they make from this. Looks kind of cold to be selling outside.

We both have fountain posts today. I like the way yours is used a lot better. I would have a field day here! I'm having a wonderful time just browsing - I'll have to make a request from my aunt's relatives for some titles. My mom went to the Filosofski Fakultet to study English Lit in late 40s/early 50s & my dad went to the engineering school for Mining engineering. It's where they met. I've been meaning to dig up an old photo & ask for photo of that area now. Thanks for this post!

When I read Filosofski Fakultet on the banner of the building behind the fountain, I wondered how that related to the Cervantes Institute since they are so different.
