Chestnuts!

Over the holidays, I received a request from Teri in the U.S. who said, "... one of the things that I miss about Christmas in Serbia is the roasting chestnuts. If, in your daily travels around town, you run across a vendor with chestnuts roasting, I would love to see it. I can almost smell them now..." I hadn't gone downtown much then, and when I did, it was either too early or too late to find anyone. Last weekend I found this fellow, Aćim (AH-cheem), who let me take his photo.

I love "kastana". I take some from the market and bake them in the fire place or the oven. The house has a great smell.

One of my favorite winter experiences is eating warm chestnuts while taking a nice long walk in the cold air. Thanks Bibi!

Yummy! Marroni, they're called in Switzerland. You've got a nice photo here. Mine from last year (link here) wasn't so great. Must do better this year... :-)

I've never actually seen chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

He has a snazzier set up for roasting than the ones in Paris. Theirs were small and usually in a shopping cart. I could kick myself for not trying some!!

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
