A recent visit to the market in search of homemade noodles for soup yielded this photo. I bought the tagliatelle-looking ones. The piles of more thinly cut noodles in the back look like blond and curlier versions of Cousin Id from the Adams Family. Notice the poppy seeds, which are either sprinkled on cooked noodles like these with a little sugar or made into sweet cakes like this one

Poppy seeds and noodles
A recent visit to the market in search of homemade noodles for soup yielded this photo. I bought the tagliatelle-looking ones. I love the variety of pasta shapes- all perfect for something. The thin, tangled ones in the back would sure hold a lot of sauce.
Loving poppy seeds too, I took a look at your poppy seed cake link. There is a man at our summer farmers market who makes those. I thought that they were great but my daughter preferred the apricot ones. Ymmm

Bibi -- very evocative, this photo. My mother always put poppy seeds on the noodles she served with beef stroganoff. She's a 100% WASP Southern belle, so I'll have to ask her where she got that idea. Now I'm hungry (or should I say "Hungary") for stroganoff!
