Sad remembrance

It's been already one year today since my husband was stricken with a fatal stroke. He was so strong that he hung on one week before succombing; his heart was last to go, so strong it was.

This is a photo of a glass of Serbian brandy in his honor.

May I be the first to say I remember your email and felt so very fortunate that you wanted to share your sadness with me. I do lift a toast to your dear, dear husband on this day. A beautiful image so very fitting for your feelings and all of ours for you our dear Bibi.
Much love,
V

In the City Daily Photo portal, I saw your photo and thought, "How romantic." Little did I realize your reason for taking the photo and posting it. I have to believe, though, that the two of you had a bountiful portion of romance in your life together. I too am a widow--I've been once since 1983 when I was 35. Thank you for one of my favorite ever City Daily photos.

This is a beautiful photograph - with a poignant touch - I remember reading about your husband initially, and the feeling I got when reading your post - hard to think it was a year ago. I'm sure his heart was full of love also...

You do him great honor with such a perfect and lovely photo of remembrance. The gradation of color from sky to hills, the bokeh of glimmering light, the distortions and concentration of colors in the beautiful glass, its golden rim and the warm amber brandy, all speak of a long love, stronger than absence, and always in your heart. Such a dear man.

Though most of my pictures of your late husband remain only in my memory, the snifter of Шљивовица seems appropriate. Here's to you Ivanja!
