ABC Wednesday--"U" is for "Underworld"

And here you thought the entrance to the Underworld existed only in mythology; the departed descend to meet Charon, who is waiting down there to ferry them across the Styx.

Not so....we have our own version of the Underworld right here in Belgrade, as do many cities like London, Paris, Moscow....you'll only find trains, crowds of people, and who knows, perhaps someone from another kind of Underworld...

See other U's at ABC WEDNESDAY.

Going underground for the underworld. Great find and an absolutely perfect choice for the letter U.

A wee bit scary. We've got an Underground in Atlanta. I was there in the 70s and thought it was scary, then. Our daughter was there this past summer and she was scared out of her wits. But the irony is it's not supposed to be scary!

I needed the explanation. Otherwise, I too would be thinking of Charon. And backing away real fast!

This is actually sign for a night club, which is found underground, and is welcoming for people of various lifestyles (homosexual, transgender, goths among others).

Thanks, Anonymous! I had heard of that club, but I thought it was near Kalemegdan. Anyway, the 'underground' is near this sign! :)

Not ready to meet anyone from this kind of underground...
Looks like it is pretty cold outside.

No problem Bibi. The club you are refering to was called Underground (now I think it is called Under, or something like that), that one is near Kalemegdan, but it is not similar to Underworld regarding the crowd, music, style, etc.
There is always something changing in the clubbing scene of Belgrade, athough those days are behind me, so I am not so informed nowadays:).

Love the whole scene and the lettering of the sign. It's out of this world. :) I bet it is a happenin' place.
