Classic beauties

Some people would be afraid to drive such classic beauties on busy city streets, but these two cars sat unharmed in downtown Belgrade.  I'm not a car person, but they were so 'cherry', as we used to say in the sixties....

By the way, the shop visible behind the car in the top photo is the pastry shop where these little delights come from.

Love the VW.

Impossible to choose between the two. The convertible for summer and the VW for the winter would solve the dilemma.

The convertible looks almost like a homemade deal. We once had a green VW that was the vintage of Mr. Red. But it didn't have a heater and that wasn't good living in Chicago, so we sold it!

Fabulous, Bibi!

The yellow convertible is a rare replica of another rare car: the 1936 Auburn 852. The giveaway that it is the replica are the wheels and tires - those are modern 14" wheels and tires as used on the otherwise very faithful replica that was built for awhile. (No longer in production.) The original 852 was supercharged and guaranteed to be able to go 100 miles per hour - a rarity in 1936. It was popular among the Hollywood crowd.

«Louis» thinks the VW is probably a '67.

Being the old car buff that he is, he really enjoyed this post!

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
