All undressed with nowhere to go

This young nude woman is literally on the proverbial pedestal, but perhaps she'll descend to try on this dress.....

ABC WEDNESDAY--"L" is for "Leaving"

Not there yet, but leaving next Monday again for India....trip #5.  Winging it alone this time, except also for a 16-day stint in Nepal where I'll hook up with a small group from Belgrade.  Then back to India until May 15th.

I'm going to post through this Friday, but then will be on hiatus until a bit after I return. If you are friends with me on Facebook, you may see posts from time to time.

These two girls were seated on a temple's steps in Udaipur.

Namaste.....

MONDAY MURALS--down by the riverside

I often walk along the river, which is behind me in this shot, and lo and behold, another mural of Belgrade sights.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--Old Tram Bridge....

Another photo of the Old Tram Bridge, as it's called here, which in itself, being so green, is springlike.  Add a little forsythia and there you go.

SKYWATCH--the silk factory in Pancevo

Actually, as you see, it's now a defunct silk factory in the nearby town of Pancevo.

A silk industry was begun in Pancevo in 1733 and this particular factory was built in 1900.  Silk was produced until 1967, but the industry was already declining and the 234 year-old tradition came to an end.

Redhead

Red all over, almost!  Squirrels here in this part of Europe look more or less like this.  Some aren't so red, but a bit more on the dark grey with red.

I think he or she is quite jazzy.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"K" is for "kermes"

"Kermes," in case you didn't know as I didn't before I looked up 'unusual words beginning with K,' is a brilliant red color or a red color derived from insects.

Not sure if any insects contributed to this eye-catching red on Belgrade's walking street, but the color brightened up my day.

Warsaw's Eiffel Tower....sort of....

This is Warsaw's palm tree, which has become sort of an icon since its installation in 2002 when it was put up by the Center for Contemporary Art.  It was never taken down, and in this respect, is sort of like the Eiffel Tower, which also was to be taken down after the World's Fair in Paris in 1889.

You can read the interesting history of  this palm tree right here.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--Ferrari.....

Spotted in a showroom in Warsaw, Poland, during my recent trip.  A shiny red Ferrari....  Times have definitely changed since I first visited Warsaw in the early 80s.

River high....

Both the Danube and Sava rivers have risen, due to the heavy rains  in Serbia that occurred while I was in Warsaw last week...  Nice forsythia, though....

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--spring's been here all along

Yesterday I said spring was long in coming, but it's been here all along.....

This restaurant's name is  Proleće (Spring) and it's been around a long time.  Take your pick of reflections!

SKYWATCH--still waiting

Here I am still waiting for spring, but I shouldn't complain.  Our winter was pretty non-existent.  This weeping willow is sprouting some buds.

Bet you didn't notice I'm in Warsaw this week (How could you? :)   I'll be back to Belgrade on Sunday and will post some Warsaw shots next week....when I'm in Belgrade.  Confusing, isn't it?

Gotcha!

"Gotcha!"....but I really wasn't looking to shoot the pigeon, but rather something else off to the right.  That attempt was unsuccessful, but I cropped down to the pigeon and he looks pretty okay.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"I" is for "In line"

These apples were all lined up against a wall next to an optician's shop that always has unusual displays...here's a shot of their door from a couple of years ago, and here's a close-up of the apples....

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS--the concrete ship

The ship you see in the foreground, casting its reflection on the Sava River is a world rarity, one of only three remaining reinforced concrete ships on the planet. Marine superstition says that the name brought the sad fate of the vessel because of this ship named "Sip," a village was flooded during the construction of the Djerdap hydroelectric power plant.

This concrete ship was built in 1943, in order to trick anti-ship mines whose fuses react to metal, but after the Second World War, it was used as a "residential ship" to skippers on the ground.

It's being renovated now....I believe as a restaurant....  The brown part is wood.

SKYWATCH--not quite spring

Photo taken the other day in Pancevo, a town about 15 kilometers from Belgrade.

No visible signs of spring, but they're not too long in coming, I think, judging by the weather.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"H" IS FOR "Harmony"

These four little boats, with a fifth in the background, looked as if they were posing in harmony for me on the Tamis River in Pancevo, Serbia, about 15 kilomers from Belgrade.

Also, Bill from Somewhere in Ireland posted a similar shot of  somewhat larger boats last Sunday, which you can see right here.

THEME DAY--"Where do I belong"?

Hmmm....a difficult theme this month, at least for me.  I could have taken it in the literal sense, but because I'm a long-term ex-pat, and have lived for many years here in Belgrade and in France, along with a couple of places in the US before that, it's hard to pick a physical place.  Also, my travels, especially to India, complicated things. I do feel I somehow belong there....and wherever my friends are, I belong.

So......  I decided just to photograph myself. I belong to me, and where I am, I feel like I belong. If one isn't comfortable in one's own skin, then one isn't comfortable or doesn't feel like they belong anywhere.

I'm going to make it a point to check out photos posted by others at THEME DAY.

CROSS-CULTURE BREAKFAST

Have been in India one week. I brought my hostess some ajvar, which she found goes very well on a chapati.
