Very odd!
You wonder, empty hand and all, if there was something wrong with his other hand that he couldn't hold it up.
Of course, that doesn't explain holding it in such an awkward way, unless he's deaf in one ear.
Having had a nerve problem in one hand, it could be explained by something like that - he just can't hold anything in his left hand. Fun shot, whatever.
