MONDAY MURALS--BLOK 45 NEW BELGRADE


 I went on my third street art walk yesterday in  NewBelgrade's Blok 45, where it all started back in the 70s.  A fantastic array of murals, tags, and graffiti enjoyably and epertly explained by our guide, an art historian (with a penchant toward worldwide street art) at Belgrade University.

It's usually fairly clear what murals are about, but I learned that tags have a message too, and graffiti goes deeper than it appears.

I wonder if that is a rapper, Pat. It is a lovely and realistic image. Anger is a gift. I wonder if that is a song or poem. It's a very different mural and almost feels like more than one person created it.
