I may have posted this before a long time ago, but this statue of a woman holding a beehive caught my attention (again?)
I looked up what beehives mean and they seem to be symbols of obedience, organization, and structure.
This statue is also making a fashion statement with her 'ripped' dress, reminding me of the ripped jeans craze.

What sort of building is this on? That shell shape behind her head is a Roman Catholic thing. Anyway, I looked up bee goddess, and Melisa in Greek and Mellona in Roman....but then Artemis has bee hives all over her sacred buildings, so who knows. The torn dress is pretty interesting. Somebody somewhere probably knows the reason. An interesting sculpture!
Thanks.
She's very fashionable.
A beautiful architectural detail.
