Le Petit Vendôme, the small café/restaurant on 8, Rue des Capucines, has for years been known as making the very best 'jambon-beurre on a baguette' (ham on buttered baguette) sandwiches. And they are good! Lines form in the a. m. and again for lunch.

The one in the foreground looks like wonderful ham only, but the second - is that a slice of cheese peeking out and a shred of iceberg lettuce? Whatever, I'd eat either happily. But the first...um, best.
