SKYWATCH--burning leaves in Bela Crkva

On a recent trip to Bela Crkva (White Church), about an hour and a half from Belgrade, I climbed a hill to get a view of the town.  The smoke is from burning leaves.

Heavy...

These are pumpkins, though not the jack o-lantern type.   Inside their flesh is bright orange and about three inches thick.  Too hard to carve for Halloween, but they make excellent pumpkin pies. I have made mine from pumpkins like this for years, ever since I came here.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers. I'm doing Thanksgiving on Sunday, since of course it isn't a holiday here....easier.

ABC WEDNESDAY--"S" is for "stacked"

These boxes are filled with chips and other similar products and aren't heavy, but still.....a balancing act.

See other S's on ABC WEDNESDAY.

There's always someone...or something...

Usually this happens in group portraits, but there's always someone or something, in this case, that his his eyes closed.

Colorful

Hey, fellows!  Would you wear this sweater? I don't dislike it, just that my husband or son wouldn't choose such a bright one.  I love how the colors and shapes echo the icon on the right.

Sunday Bridges--Riding High

Over and around we go.

Weekend Reflection: vinjak in a puddle

Vinjak (VEEN-yak) is a brandy-type drink.  Very strong, and it used to  be quite popular when I first came here, but seems to have lost popularity.  However, these little bottles are sold in kiosks and quite often workers around market places will buy some and have a drink....and drop the bottles; not nice.

See other reflections on James' Weekend Reflection.

SKYWATCH--photo-bombed

I'm happy this pigeon photo-bombed my photo of the confluence of the Danube and the Sava.  Wouldn't be the same photo without it.

See other skies on SKYWATCH.

Yawn.

November is here....gray skies....yawn.

ABC WEDNESDAY = "R" IS FOR "REPAIRS"

Didn't stick around to see if these letters were being replaced or just taken down for polishing......

Portrait of a stranger

An assignment for a photo class I am taking was to photograph a stranger....so I did.  This man, and I didn't ask his name, was enjoying a beer at a rowing club on Belgrade's river island, Ada Ciganlija.

I will take a copy to him....and ask his name.
