'Opanci'
I photographed these opanci (OH-pahn-tsee) that I showed you once before here at the Ethnographic Museum downtown. Please click on that link, for there are some wonderful photographs of the exhibits inside. A museum not to miss should you come to Belgrade.
Ethnography museums are wonderlands, this is a great photo to add to your already stellar portfolio. I love the feel of it, it definitely echos Native American footwear.
I'm an American woman who's lived and worked in Serbia for over 35 years. I've come to love the people with all their idiosyncrasies, and created this blog to help break some of the negative press about Serbs. I take requests for photos!

We missed this museum on our visit to Belgrade! That won't happen next time.
Our son just spent a long weekend in Belgrade with both work and our family and as always, had a wonderful time.
One thing you can say for sure: People in Belgrade have soul! I mean sole!
Rather unique moccasins while at the same time similar to our native American types.
Comme nos sabots mais en plus esthétiques.
These shoes do look rather like a moccasin, except the the long toe. Guess I better go visit the link and find out about that.
All humor aside, I can smell the leather.
How fascinating. Amazing shoes. You make a painting out of everything, Bibi.
Beautifully composed and yes, Jacob is right, they look very much like those of our Native Americans. Great shot.

Very interesting. They remind me of a pair of slippers that I used to have. I'd love to go to that museum.
Great photo Bibi. Interesting subject matter.
