Shocking colors and shocking news!

It's still very chilly here and so this lady is all bundled up. But she's probably warmed by the sizzling news inside her scandal newspaper (click on the photo...) She's selling shoelaces in shocking colors, too, plus hairclips, barrettes, and insoles. Above you can see packages of those foam hair curlers, too.

...and shocking cover on that rag. Her merchandise seems like it might be hard to sell enough to make any sort of decent living. Not so? And, is that an articulated bus or a train in the background? Love these little market stalls that seem to abound in European cities.

Hi, Chuck! I knew you'd be checking in before turning in! Agree about success in selling such merchandise, though I see "shoelace sellers" all over, so I guess someone's interested. Yes, that is one of Belgrade's double buses (that's what I call them) in the background. Belgrade has trams and trolleybuses, too.

That vehicle behind old lady is a tram, not a bus. Double buses are officialy called "joint buses" (zglobni autobusi), here in Belgrade. So, this is probably a joint tram. Sometimes you can see a "double-joint tram" (I call it so), meaning 2 connected joint trams.
As for laces, I've seen them on couple of spots in busy streets (I guess this 1 is in blvd King Alexander). I've never seen bunch of peaople arround them, trying to buy something, but ye, since they are there everyday, guess they have a reson for that. They probably sell cheaper on the street than in a shop.
Btw, nice blog. Do you mind if I ask are you a photographer? Or you just take shots for you own and ours pleasures?

P.S.: I've messed something with my comments, like sent them 3 times... sorry, first time commenting something :)

Ha, what a great issue of Scandal you caught her reading!

Hello, Obelix! Sorry for the possible mess-up between trams and buses. Thought it was a bus since I didn't see any cables above. Anyway, I prefer to ride both to and from town since parking is sooo awful. No, I'm not a professional photographer, or maybe I am, since technically if you sell photos, you're a "professional," and I've sold a few. But I don't make a living that way, and just enjoying taking photos. I deleted your multiple copies of the same comment! :<)

I can not even imagine the lady would sell more than one or two pairs of shoelaces in a week. I don't think people here have shoelaces anymore. They all have some other fastener in their shoes.

I did find the photo fascinating because of what the lady is selling and there must be a market for it or she wouldn't be doing it.

It is a nice photograph and a look at life in your city.

Oh my! What interesting reading material. Well, sex sells all over the world.

Speaking of reading I am working my way through Balkan Ghosts, have you read it? I must say it does not make me overly proud of being of Croatian decent.

Great shot, especially when you enlarge it.

I love this shot. I am partial to street shots and never seem to be able to recreate ones I like. This is great!

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
