Dog-tired.

According to Wikipedia, the phrase Dog Days or "the dog days of summer," refers to the hottest, most sultry days of summer. They are a phenomenon of the northern hemisphere that usually falls between July and early September, but the actual dates vary greatly from region to region, depending on latitude and climate. Dog Days can also define a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant. Well, it's been hot and stagnant here pretty regularly, and this dog has picked an odd spot to rest, right in the sun. But I've noticed street dogs do that to warm their bones, poor things.

"Louis" was relieved to read that the dog was only sleeping! At first, "Louis" thought the dog was in a more permanent state of sleep - but couldn't figure out why you would post a dead dog! Whew!

No, "Bibi" would never post a dead dog, no more than Louis would post a steak, I guess! :<)

This dog looks like one I rescued from the street over 15 years ago, and who died last summer at a ripe old age.

This tired dog doesn't look over fed, either.

I feel for you ... I'm not a fan of hot weather ... especially if it's humid as well.

And what did you give it to eat and drink?

Water would be great and a hot dog and bun would make his dog days a fourth of July celebration.

Nice photograph.

Warming his poor bones! That had never occured to me before about street dogs. The Uk love affair with their pets, especially dogs is still strong. We don't have many Dog Days here or many dogs warming their poor bones.

Quite funny because in French, "un temps de chien" means very bad weather...

Yes! C'est la canicule means heat wave. The root of that word means dog in latin! It's all connected:)

Poor guy. The pavement is warm, and dogs like to heat up, then cool down. I hope he's got a place to go.

Poor dog, he's very tired, but he can rest below a tree shadow.

Poor doggie. Maybe it's too tired to walk to the shades.
