The little brush shop that was...and still is.

There aren't many of these shops around anymore, in Belgrade or even elsewhere. The Zivkovic-es (ZHEEVE-ko-veetch) have had this shop in the family for over 70 years. It's very small, as you can see, and the buildings that surround it are scheduled for demolition, so it's anybody's guess just when it will happen and where the little shop will go. Inside you'll find just about every kind of brush you can dream of, natural bristles and synthetic ones. All the brushes are hand-made. The sign in Cyrillic above simply states "brush shop."

I don't think most people appreciate hand made things like they did ages ago when that's all there was.

The glass in the shop window, at the top looks like hand made glass to me.

Nice photo.

This is wonderful. A must for enlarging and looking in the window, plus looking at the people. I hate to see these small shops go. I guess it's happening in cities all over the world. (A good reason to move to a small town!)

75 years! This shop has been through some pretty tumultuous times. I bet there wouldn’t be many to operate continuously for that long.

Hand made for sure! Take a closer look at Mr. Zivkovic's fingers...

It's incredible and "beautiful" that in our era there are still people that "survive" (I think they can't earn lots of money with such kind of shop)keeping alive this form of craftsmanship.

How charming. I do hope this lovely shop doesn't go. It seems to happen everywhere tho. Sad. Lovely shot.

We are lucky if shops are around for 75 days, let alone years. So refreshing to see a real local outlet.

There's something fascinating about specialist shops and I'd agree that it's a shame when they close down but all we have to do to keep them is buy their wares..
Thanks for the visit to Nice:)

I guess problems with disappearing of Mom&Pop's store are happening everywhere. I like the story and picture, but sad to think they will move somewhere.

I really like this kind of little shop, but unfortunate, in our city they are always less.

What a lovely shop, and I hope the scheduled demolition of the nearby shops doesn't stop this shop - it sounds quite special.

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
