Finally we arrived in Athens, and decided to see a bit of the city right away. The metro is the fastest and most economical way to get around (walking costs less, of course, but it was waaaay tooooo hot). The Athens subway is very, very clean; both the trains and stations. One regular ticket costs .80 euros. Radovan didn't pay, tsk-tsk.
We took the metro to Syntagma Square, site of the Greek Parliament, where every hour the changing of the guard ceremony is performed in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Like many other tourists, Radovan wanted his photo with a guard, and tried to talk him into exchanging hats with him, but he wouldn't.

Eric at Paris Daily Photo had a shot of Mona Lisa, but "Louis" doesn't have to go to Paris to see her!
I am very envious of Mr Radovan. If not Nice, then a trip to Greece would be most welcome. He already appears to have a touch of sunburn across the nose. I do hope he wore suitable sunscreen for his fair skin.
I'm enjoying your Greek vacation. Haven't been there in close to 20 years, so thanks for taking me back with your friend Radovic (who looks to me like DeGaulle might have if he'd lived to be about 106!).
Am glad you got to go to the places that you wanted to see. I am surprised it is hot there. I just thought it was a cool place to visit.
Radovan sure does have a big honker! It's nice to see Greece through his eyes and well.. nose!
I don't blame the guard. His hat is pretty cool.
