Hidden beauty

In downtown Belgrade there are many modern buildings and also many old ones. The facades and stairways of the latter are either well maintained if the owners have the money to do so, or else are left to slowly deteriorate. I amuse myself by peeking through doorways of the more dilapidated buildings to see if it's worth a closer look inside. Often it is, as you can see by this treasure of a ceiling I found. Click on the photo to enlarge and appreciate the artwork more.

That's very intriguing and well done too. I also like the banister — pretty.

Marvelous artwork made even better by the framing of other building elements you've given it. The light is perfect.

Nice blog. I enjoyed your photos/comments. I'm a Serbian priest in the US (West PA). I was born in Sombor but grew up in the States.

Anyway, your pictures are beautiful. I'm going to have to visit again.

Wonderful artwork! What do you suppose the numbers are in the painting. One appears to be the year 1906, but the others are a mystery to me.

Beautiful and intriguing. "Louis" would like to know the story behind the painting. Very nice shot, Bibi!

Hello, and thanks for your comments. Now you've made me curious. I will return to the building where this photo is, and see if I can find someone who can explain the painting's origin/meaning to me.
