Seems as if the statues behind him had other plans for this little guy and didn't want him just standing idle. Water those petunias! The flowers look like pansies, they are designed to stand the cold weather and carry on flowering. Perfect for the winter! :)

The wall in the background blends in so well...and although it's a totally different style, really seems to fit the scene. Interesting topiary, as well.
