A spring cleaner

Doesn't this lady have the most endearing face and smile? She is one of the City Parks crew that comes to pick up litter and tidy up for spring. Others like her prune trees, rake up dead leaves, and trim bushes. I see her rather often, and she let me take her photo, and I gave one to her later on. Her hair is the color that you see on one of these two ladies , and she's carrying a pointed metal stick to pick up litter with.

Being very green aware, I have always loved when I see those ladies while passing by and collecting enormous litter around and especially below our buildings.

We call them in slang ''fatalist'', which literally means /the one that picks up the leaf...

If we weren't that environment unaware, they would be able to focus on pruning and enhancing green surfaces!!

The face and the smile are wonderful, Bibi. But for me it is the hands that are a delight. Such lived in hands. Bravo!

These hands have worked very hard. These eyes have seen much change. She picks up garbage for a living.

Love those people who can smile about all life brings their way. Perhaps there is a secret society of brilliant read hair ladies who all sit around smiling and reflecting on the good of the world.

I noticed the hands too. Hard working, afraid of nothing hands that probably hold lots of grandchildren.

She sure does. Always nice to read a little about the local people.

It is her smile and those litle creases around the eyes that make me smile.

Her heart is in her smile! That is wonderful that she helps clean up! My town has turned into a mess. There are sooo many litter bugs. I need to walk around with a bag and litter stick too!

Bibi -- I think you know what color red I think her hair is :~}
A very good photographer taught me the importance of including hands in a portrait—you probably know that instinctively. I agree with Virginia, especially looking at this photo and the one of Katya together.
You have a wonderful way of capturing the beautifully expressive faces of these women. Let's see more, please!
