The priest's piglets

Where are the piglets, you ask? Right here in the foreground, with the sun shining through. 'Popino prase,' or the priest's piglet, as it's known here, is a type of grass sometimes called false barley, hare barley, or mouse barley in English. The strands of 'Popino prase' (POE-pee-no PRA-say) have a tendency to catch on some dog's coats and sometimes bore their way down into their skin, causing irritation. Fortunately, Bibi doesn't have that kind of coat.

I've learned quite a bit from you—including this lesson in language and horticulture! And this photo is just stunning!

Interesting and different way to see plants but what's the bright near the top? Could be a specular highlight but it looks like a flashlight.

Wow, love that capture and the name is funny. I see many interesting grasses but my pics never do them justice.

«Louis» is happy to read that Bibi hasn't had the Priest's Piglets irritate her. There must be a funny story behind the name!

Hi, Bob. No flashlight; it's the big flashlight in the sky...the sun, somehow oddly shining through.

Very nice light in this photo. I wonder why it's called "priest's piglet"? Why not nun's piglet? I see where it can cause irritation - aha! That's why they call it priest's piglet! :-)

Well, the barley sure makes for a great backlit photo! Although I wouldn't want it on my dog.

We have something similar here. I don't know the name, however.

I think they're also called fox tails in English. Fox tails can work their way into your dog's skin....

Super shot. So shows the delicacy of the grass. I thought that was the moon but read it is the sun but then the B and W don't make it obvious. Love it.

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
