Belgrade's High School No. 3

Belgrade's High School No. 3 was founded in 1859 and because of its architectural and historical value it became a cultural monument (while still a high school) in 1964. Pretty place, no?

Wow, incredibly detailed architecture. Hope the modern day kids can appreciate that.

Compared to most schools in the US, this is just amazing. Hey, it is amazing without any comparison! How fortunate to have preserved an architectural gem like this... love that it is a school!

slightly more ornate than Public School 104 or Junior High School 82 (both of which I attended)

There is a slight resemblance to some of the big city high schools from my youth, but ours were not anywhere near this elegant with the statuary, etc.

This has a real sense of place and strength to it!

A treasure! I hope they keep it well maintained inside and that the students are respectful. How fortunate they are.

I went to elementary school next to it and it is indeed a very beautiful building. It was built in 1906. It is located in a quiet, "leafy" Njegoseva Street and has five pubs/coffee shops across the street. Many Belgraders who grew up there in the '80's fondly remember the lazy summer afternoons when the school was out, and the thick shade of lime trees covered the street. The area is also known as "Cvetni Trg" (the Flower Square) named after the nearby flower market.

It's beautiful! I'll bet there's no graffiti here.
(My work colleague is curious about what the sign says exactly.)

SPRING FASHION

This is a post that would be better in color, but maybe not. These colors were soooo pale.
